EFT Treatment for Bunions

Could EFT be a possible treatment for bunions?

Well, who knows? As long as I've not given it a fair try, I won't say no. And that's the reason why on this page I'll tell you what I learned about EFT and why I think it could make sense as a treatment for bunions.

Truth compels me to say I had never heard about EFT until one of the website visitors brought it to my attention. 'EFT' stands for Emotional Freedom Techniques. At first glimpse I thought it was a bit like Quantum Touch (an energy healing technique I wrote about earlier). But now that I've had the chance to have a closer look at it and study the free material from the EFT website, I've learned that it's more related to acupuncture really.

EFT is based on the discovery that your emotions originate from your body's energy system. When there's a disruption in this energy system, negative emotions arise. These negative emotions can bring about illnesses, on the psychological as well as on the physical plane.

So this means that negative emotions could be the cause of bunions? Yes, exactly. Though you may have trouble believing this, there are others who've said the same. Like Louise Hay, for instance. On her website, you can read:

Physically, bunions are toxins that settle in the feet. A good nutritional cleansing program can help your feet feel more comfortable. Metaphysically, bunions represent a fear of the future. Remember, feet represent understanding and trust in Life. So with bunions, there’s fear of moving forward, and insecurity about being where you are. Also, there’s the feeling that too many demands are being made on you.

It’s time to stand on your own two feet mentally. What is it you want to do? Where do you want to be? Learn to become more selfish and to think of yourself more. You’ve done more than enough for others. Your feet are telling you that it’s your time now. So love your feet! Massage them daily with love. Move forward in life, loving who you are, enjoying yourself, and thinking thoughts that make you feel good. Affirm 'I love my life. I do what makes me happy, and I move forward in joy'.

It doesn't matter if you don't believe all this completely. Also people who didn't believe in the theoretical principles behind EFT have cured themselves from various ailments. In fact, it looks like EFT is showing results in such a variety of conditions, that I think it might be worth while to try it as a treatment for bunions too.

So what is the EFT treatment like exactly? As explained above, EFT addresses the body's energy system, like acupuncture, but without the use of needles. Basically, it consists of nothing more than tapping with your fingers near the end points of the energy meridians in your body, while naming the condition you want to work on, rolling your eyes around in your head, counting out loud, and humming a song. (That is, one after the other, not all at the same time!)

I agree all of this sounds a bit weird, but EFT is not alone in applying these kind of techniques. David Servan-Schreiber for example, in his famous book The Instinct to Heal, tells about EMDR (Eye-Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), a technique that also involves eye movements in order to help people recover from emotional trauma.

So, no, I'm not joking. Actually, I'm taking this quite seriously. I downloaded all the free material from the EFT website, and am studying it thoroughly. In the meantime, I would appreciate any comments from your side on this possible treatment for bunions as well!
