Recent Bunion Surgery

After putting off bunion surgery for over 5 years, I decided to get it done. I shopped several doctors and decided on a foot and ankle specialist. Hearing horror stories from almost everyone who decided to weigh in on the subject made me want to cancel. I had surgery on my right foot November 11. I was pleasantly surprised when I woke up from MAC sedation and ankle block with only mild pain. Over the next 2 days, I took demerol and phenergen for adequate relief. By the weekend, I was able to switch to Tylenol. No horror story here and I am scheduled to have the left foot done the day before Thanksgiving. And.... I began driving one week after surgery! I am an active treadmill walker and look forward to getting back to that sometime in January. The only real challenge has been bathing - keeping the foot dry.

If you have bunions that are hurting, do not hesitate to have this surgery. You will not regret it.
