As I understand it, the progression of bunions involves a pre-existing genetic tendency, but it plays out through having weak muscles to the outside of the big toe, and stronger muscles pulling the toe towards the inside (that is, towards the other toes). Some of these exercises seem like they would beef up the muscles that pull the big toe inwards, rather than outwards. If anyone tries mostly the flexibility "exercises" (I think of them as stretches) and the exercises where the muscle is used to spread the toes, rather than pull the big toe in against a stretch, could you report back? That might be the best answer of all.
